Why the rate you see may differ slightly from your bank's

The rate shown here is the interbank/market rate, the rate banks and large institutions trade at. Banks, credit cards, and currency exchange kiosks add a margin on top of that rate (sometimes disclosed as a fee, sometimes just built quietly into a worse exchange rate), so the amount you actually receive or pay when converting real money will typically be somewhat less favorable than the market rate shown here. Use this tool to know the true reference rate, then compare it against what your bank or card actually offers.
